Charles Hutton opened Huttons Shoe Repair Service at 11 Elgin Terrace, Edinburgh in 1923. At the time, Charles was the third generation of shoe repairers
in the family. His son William W. Hutton served his apprenticeship under his father and eventually took over the business in 1956 when his father died.
With the help of his mother Margaret and later his wife Alison, William carried on his fathers reputation for craftsmanship and served the Edinburgh community for many years eventually taking on his youngest son Ian who carries on the business today.
Ian has recently employed his son Cameron who is currently learning the trade being the sixth generation of shoe repairers in the Hutton family. Still trading from 11 Elgin Terrace in Edinburgh is the oldest shoe repair business in Edinburgh.
